Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Wings
- 1 pound frozen chicken wings
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Sauce
- 1/4 cup BBQ sauce or any wing sauce you love
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F. Preheating helps the wings get crisp right from the start. If your model does not have a preheat button, just let it run empty for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Prepare Wings: Take the wings straight from the freezer. Do not thaw or rinse. Place the frozen wings in a single layer into the air fryer basket. If a few are stuck together, it’s fine; they will separate during cooking. Drizzle the wings with olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Toss gently to coat evenly.
- First Cook: Air fry the wings at 400°F for 10 minutes. Then open the basket and use tongs to break apart any wings stuck together.
- Second Cook: Cook the wings for another 10 minutes at 400°F. By now, they should be golden and the skin should begin to crisp.
- Sauce and Toss: Remove wings from the air fryer and transfer them to a bowl. Add your BBQ sauce or preferred wing sauce and toss to coat every wing evenly.
- Final Cook to Caramelize: Place the sauced wings back into the air fryer and cook for 3 to 5 minutes at 400°F to caramelize the sauce and lock in flavor. The wings will develop a sticky, shiny coating.
- Check Temperature: For food safety, use a meat thermometer to ensure the wings reach 165°F internally before serving.
Notes
- Do not thaw or rinse the wings before cooking to retain crispiness.
- You can use any wing sauce of your choice instead of BBQ sauce.
- Cooking times may vary slightly depending on your air fryer model; always check internal temperature.
- If wings are stuck together, they will separate during cooking.
- For extra crispiness, you may cook a couple of minutes longer if needed.
