Description

These Apple & Carrot Hard Bones are wholesome and tasty dog treats that your furry friend will love. Made with fresh ingredients like carrots, apple, and whole wheat flour, these homemade treats are perfect for pampering your pet.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • 1 apple (cored and grated, peel on)
  • 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • â…“ cup water
  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine grated carrots, grated apple, whole wheat flour, oats, water, applesauce, coconut oil, and egg. Stir until a stiff dough forms.
  3. Roll Out Dough: Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Use bone-shaped cookie cutters to cut out the treats and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake: Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the bones are golden brown and hard. Let them cool completely before serving to your dog.
  5. Store: Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • You can substitute whole wheat flour with oat flour for a gluten-free version.
  • For extra crunch, turn off the oven after baking and let the treats sit inside as the oven cools.
