Description

This classic Blue Cheese Dressing is a creamy, tangy condiment perfect for salads, dipping wings, or serving with fresh veggies. Made with sour cream, mayonnaise, and crumbled blue cheese, it strikes a perfect balance of rich flavor and smooth texture, and it’s easy to customize with milk or buttermilk for your preferred consistency.

Ingredients

Scale

Dressing

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 2–3 tablespoons whole milk or buttermilk (to thin, as needed)

Instructions

  1. Mix Base Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together sour cream, mayonnaise, white wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Add Blue Cheese: Stir in the crumbled blue cheese gently, mashing some of the cheese with the back of a spoon to create a creamier texture while still retaining some chunks.
  3. Adjust Consistency: Add milk or buttermilk one tablespoon at a time, stirring after each addition until the dressing reaches your desired consistency.
  4. Season and Chill: Taste the dressing and adjust seasoning if needed. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes for the flavors to meld together before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream to create a lighter version of the dressing.
  • If you prefer a chunkier texture, stir in additional blue cheese at the end without mashing.
  • This dressing makes a fantastic dip for wings or fresh vegetables.
