Description

A refreshing and vibrant Blueberry Margarita cocktail featuring homemade blueberry simple syrup, fresh lime juice, Grand Marnier, and tequila, perfectly balanced and served on the rocks with a salted rim.

Ingredients

Scale

Blueberry Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar

Cocktail

  • 1 ½ ounces Blueberry Simple Syrup
  • 1 ½ ounces fresh lime juice
  • 1 ½ ounces Grand Marnier
  • 2 ½ ounces tequila
  • Lime wedges (for rimming the glass)
  • Kosher salt (for rimming the glass)
  • Fresh blueberries (for garnish)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Make Blueberry Simple Syrup: Place the blueberries, sugar, and water in a small pan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar completely.
  2. Cook and Mash Berries: Continue cooking the mixture for 8-10 minutes until the blueberries begin to burst. Remove the pan from heat and mash the berries gently with a spoon to release more juice.
  3. Strain Syrup: Set a fine mesh sieve over a glass bowl and pour the blueberry mixture through it to strain out solids, collecting the syrup. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
  4. Prepare Glass: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a lowball glass and dip it into kosher salt to coat. Fill the glass with ice and set aside.
  5. Shake Cocktail: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the blueberry simple syrup, fresh lime juice, Grand Marnier, and tequila. Shake vigorously until well mixed and chilled.
  6. Serve: Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass filled with ice. Garnish with fresh blueberries and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh blueberries for the best flavor and color in the simple syrup.
  • If you prefer a less sweet cocktail, adjust the amount of simple syrup to taste.
  • For a more intense blueberry flavor, allow the simple syrup to steep after cooking before straining.
  • The kosher salt rim adds a classic contrast to the sweetness of the cocktail, but you can omit if preferred.
  • This recipe makes one serving but can be easily scaled up for a party by multiplying the ingredients.
