- ½ cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
For the Mushroom Gravy:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion (thinly sliced)
- 8 ounces cremini or button mushrooms (sliced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (for gravy)
- ½ teaspoon thyme leaves
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef Patties: Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 oval patties.
- Sear the Patties: Sear patties in a skillet until browned but not fully cooked. Set aside.
- Make the Mushroom Gravy: Cook onions, mushrooms, and garlic. Stir in flour, then slowly whisk in beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Simmer until thickened.
- Simmer and Serve: Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over each, cover, and simmer until cooked through. Serve hot with additional gravy.
