- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons yeast
- 1 ¼ teaspoons salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg (beaten, optional)
Sandwich Fillings
- 16 ounces deli ham (folded)
- 8 to 16 ounces deli turkey (folded)
- 8 to 16 ounces sliced provolone cheese (halved)
- Lettuce (as desired)
- Sliced tomatoes (as desired)
- Pickles (as desired)
- Sliced banana peppers (as desired)
- Sliced kalamata olives (as desired)
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a mixing bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in ¼ cup warm water and let it rest for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix Dough: Stir salt into the flour, then add the flour mixture to the yeast mixture and beat until combined, scraping the bowl sides.
- Knead Dough: Switch to a dough hook and knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, turn once to coat, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a draft-free place for 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Shape Dough: Punch the dough down onto a floured surface, roll it into a rectangle matching the bundt pan length, then roll tightly like a jelly roll, pinching to seal.
- Prepare Bundt Pan: Spray the bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray and transfer the rolled dough into the pan, pinching where ends meet.
- Second Rise: Cover the bundt pan and let the dough rise for 30 minutes to puff up.
- Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) in preparation for baking.
- Optional Egg Wash: Lightly brush the dough with beaten egg for a golden crust if desired.
- Bake Bread: Bake the bread for 35 to 45 minutes until the crust is golden and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool Bread: Remove bread from the oven and cool on a wire rack to room temperature.
- Slice Bread: Slice the bread horizontally through the middle to create a top and bottom half.
- Assemble Sandwich: Layer the bottom half of bread with deli ham, turkey, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, banana peppers, and sliced kalamata olives.
- Serve: Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich and serve with additional condiments if desired.
Notes
- If you prefer a crustier bread, omit the egg wash before baking.
- Adjust the amount of deli meats and cheese according to personal preference for sandwich fullness.
- The rising times may vary depending on ambient room temperature; warmer settings speed up yeast activity.
- This sandwich is versatile; feel free to swap provolone for other cheeses like Swiss or cheddar.
- Store any leftover bread separately from sandwich fillings to keep the bread fresh.
