Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- Cooking spray
- 1 bag Hawaiian sweet rolls (12 count)
- 1 lb. deli-style, oven-roasted turkey or Thanksgiving turkey leftovers, thinly sliced
- 1 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
- 4 oz. gouda, thinly sliced
- 4 oz. mild cheddar, thinly sliced
Butter Topping
- 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
- 2 Tbsp. sliced chives, plus more for serving
- 1/2 tsp. poppy seeds, plus more for sprinkling
- 1/4 tsp. onion powder
- 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray a 13″ x 9″ baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Assemble the Sliders: Place the Hawaiian rolls on a cutting board still connected. Using a long bread knife, carefully slice the rolls horizontally in half, creating a top and bottom layer while keeping them attached. Set the top halves aside. Evenly layer the sliced turkey over the bottom halves, spread the whole berry cranberry sauce evenly on top of the turkey, then layer with sliced gouda and cheddar cheeses. Close the sliders by placing the top buns back on.
- Make Butter Mixture: In a medium heatproof bowl, microwave the softened butter until melted. Stir in sliced chives, poppy seeds, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce thoroughly to combine all the flavors.
- Brush and Sprinkle: Generously brush the butter mixture all over the slider tops using a pastry brush. Sprinkle additional poppy seeds over the tops for extra flavor and a decorative touch. Loosely cover the baking dish with foil to keep the sliders moist while baking.
- Bake the Sliders: Bake the covered sliders in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the buns turn golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Transfer the baked sliders to a serving platter and garnish with additional sliced chives before serving to add a fresh, vibrant element.
Notes
- Use leftover Thanksgiving turkey or deli-style oven-roasted turkey for convenience.
- Whole berry cranberry sauce adds texture and sweetness; substitute with homemade if preferred.
- Feel free to swap gouda and cheddar for your favorite cheeses but stick to good melting varieties.
- Butter topping can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a day.
- Serve warm for the best melty cheese experience and flavor.
