Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
Wet Ingredients
- 3 large eggs
- ¾ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pans: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round cake pans to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and granulated sugar until fully combined and smooth.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, vegetable oil, whole milk, and vanilla extract together until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, gently folding to combine until just mixed. Avoid overmixing to keep the cake tender.
- Bake the Batter: Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Place them in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
- Cool and Frost: Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them onto wire racks to cool completely before frosting as desired.
Notes
- Ensure not to overmix the batter to avoid a dense cake.
- Greasing the pans properly helps in easy removal of the cakes.
- You can use your favorite chocolate frosting once the cake is completely cooled.
- Room temperature ingredients mix better and give a smoother batter.
- Use a toothpick test to accurately check if the cake is fully baked.
