Description

This Easy Meat Lover’s Stromboli is a delicious Italian-American dish featuring a rolled pizza dough filled with a generous mix of sausage, bacon, pepperoni, and plenty of mozzarella cheese. Topped with garlic butter and parmesan, baked to golden perfection, it’s perfect for a hearty meal or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough & Sauce

  • 1 package DeLallo Pizza Dough Kit (prepared according to package instructions)
  • 1/2 cup DeLallo Pizza Sauce (divided)

Cheese

  • 4 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded, divided)
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese (grated)

Meats

  • 1 package sausage (cooked and crumbled, divided)
  • 8 slices bacon (cooked and crumbled, divided)
  • 24 slices pepperoni (divided)

Other

  • 4 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: Prepare the DeLallo Pizza Dough according to the package instructions. Once prepared, let the dough rise in the refrigerator for 45 minutes to develop flavor and texture.
  2. Preheat Oven & Roll Dough: Preheat your oven to 450°F. Remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out on a well-floured surface into two rectangles approximately 1/2 inch thick. Transfer the rolled dough onto two oiled baking sheets or a single large baking sheet.
  3. Apply Sauce: Spread 1/4 cup of pizza sauce evenly over each rectangle, leaving about an inch of dough border on all sides to facilitate sealing.
  4. Add Cheese: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over each portion of sauced dough for a flavorful base layer.
  5. Layer Meats & Cheese: Evenly distribute half of the cooked crumbled sausage, pepperoni slices, and crumbled bacon over each rectangle. Then top each with another cup of mozzarella cheese to bind the filling.
  6. Form the Roll: Carefully fold one side of the dough up over the fillings, then fold the opposite side over to overlap and form a sealed roll. Pinch the edges firmly to prevent leakage during baking.
  7. Brush with Garlic Butter & Add Parmesan: In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and garlic salt. Brush this mixture generously over each stromboli. Sprinkle each with half of the grated parmesan cheese to add a savory crust.
  8. Bake: Place the strombolis in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and crispy.
  9. Serve: Remove the strombolis from the oven, slice, and serve warm with additional pizza sauce for dipping if desired.
  10. Enjoy: Dig in and enjoy this hearty, cheesy meat lover’s stromboli!

Notes

  • Ensure the dough is rolled evenly for uniform cooking.
  • Allowing the dough to rest and rise in the fridge enhances its texture and flavor.
  • Use a well-floured surface to prevent sticking while rolling out the dough.
  • Be sure to pinch the edges tightly when rolling to avoid cheese and meat leak during baking.
  • Baking times can vary slightly depending on oven performance; watch for a golden crust.
  • Serve with extra pizza sauce or your favorite dipping sauce for enhanced flavor.
  • You can substitute meats with turkey sausage or omit for a vegetarian version if desired.
