Description

This Easy Shrimp Tacos recipe features perfectly spiced shrimp cooked quickly in a skillet, served on soft tortillas with your choice of fresh toppings. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s a flavorful and light meal perfect for a weeknight dinner or casual gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Seasoning

  • 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails removed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Tortillas and Toppings

  • 8-10 medium tortillas (flour or corn)
  • Toppings (optional, to taste): sour cream, salsa, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp: If using frozen shrimp, thaw them by running under cool water. Peel and remove tails to ready shrimp for cooking.
  2. Prepare toppings: While thawing your shrimp, gather and prepare your desired taco toppings such as sour cream, salsa, chopped iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, fresh cilantro, and lime juice.
  3. Cook the shrimp: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp along with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until shrimp turn pink and are cooked through, about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Assemble and serve: Warm the tortillas if desired. Fill each tortilla with cooked shrimp and your preferred toppings. Serve the tacos immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can customize the spice level by adjusting the amount of chili powder or adding fresh jalapeños.
  • For a gluten-free option, use corn tortillas certified gluten-free.
  • If short on time, pre-cooked shrimp can be used but reduce cooking time to just warming them through.
  • These tacos pair well with a side of Mexican rice or black beans for a complete meal.
