Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 8 ounces broccolini (ends trimmed)
- 1 cup water
- 3 tablespoons butter (cut into pats)
- 2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
- Lemon juice (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Bring water to a boil: Add 1 cup of water to a skillet and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat to prepare for steaming the broccolini.
- Steam broccolini: Once boiling, add the broccolini to the skillet and cover. Let it steam for 5 minutes until tender but still crisp.
- Drain water: Remove the lid and carefully drain out the remaining water from the skillet to avoid sogginess.
- Return to heat: Place the skillet back on medium heat with the broccolini inside, preparing to sauté with butter and garlic.
- Sauté with garlic and butter: Add the butter pats and finely chopped garlic to the skillet. Toss the broccolini often and cook for 2-3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and lightly cooked without browning.
- Season and serve: Season generously with salt and pepper, then drizzle with fresh lemon juice if desired. Serve immediately for best flavor.
Notes
- Trim the ends of the broccolini before cooking for the best texture.
- Do not brown the garlic to keep the flavor mild and aromatic.
- Lemon juice is optional but adds a bright contrast to the buttery garlic flavor.
- For a vegan version, substitute butter with olive oil or a plant-based butter.
- Adjust salt and pepper according to taste preferences.
