Ingredients
Scale
Burger Patties
- 1½ pounds 90% lean ground beef
- 1½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1½ teaspoons McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
Toppings & Serving
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- ½ cup caramelized onions (prepared separately)
Instructions
- Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to medium-high, preparing it for direct grilling to achieve a nice sear on the burgers.
- Prepare the Patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, Montreal Steak Seasoning, and crushed garlic. Mix gently until evenly incorporated, then shape the mixture into four equal-sized patties.
- Grill the Burgers: Place the patties on the heated grill and cook for about 7-9 minutes on one side. Flip the patties once and continue cooking until they reach your desired doneness, approximately another 7-9 minutes.
- Add Cheese: When the burgers are nearly cooked through, place one slice of Swiss cheese on each patty. Close the grill lid and let the cheese melt, about 1-2 minutes.
- Toast the Buns: Optionally, split the hamburger buns and place them cut-side down on the grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted.
- Assemble and Serve: Place each burger onto a toasted bun and top with 2 tablespoons of caramelized onions. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For best flavor, use freshly caramelized onions; prepare them in advance if desired.
- Adjust the cooking time to ensure burgers are cooked to your personal preference.
- If you don’t have a grill, these burgers can be cooked on a stovetop skillet with similar results.
- To keep patties juicy, avoid pressing them down while grilling.
- Ensure food safety by cooking ground beef to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
