Description

This Microwave Cinnamon Roll in a Mug is a quick and easy single-serving treat perfect for when you crave a cinnamon roll but don’t want to wait or bake. Made with simple ingredients and cooked in just a minute, it delivers warm, fluffy dough with sweet cinnamon and sugar, topped with a smooth glaze.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • ½ cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Filling

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Glaze

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon milk

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
  2. Add Milk and Form Dough: Pour in the milk and mix well until a soft, cohesive dough forms.
  3. Knead and Roll Dough: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly until smooth. Then roll the dough out into a strip approximately 3 inches wide and 12 to 16 inches long.
  4. Prepare Mug and Dough: Generously brush the inside of a microwave-safe coffee mug with melted butter. Brush the remaining melted butter evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  5. Add Filling and Roll: Sprinkle the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon evenly over the buttered dough. Starting at one end, tightly roll the dough into a spiral resembling a cinnamon roll.
  6. Cook in Microwave: Place the rolled dough into the prepared mug and microwave on high power for 60 seconds, or until the dough is set and cooked through.
  7. Make Glaze: In a small bowl, stir together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth to make the glaze.
  8. Glaze and Serve: Pour the glaze over the hot cinnamon roll in the mug. Allow to cool slightly before enjoying your warm cinnamon treat.

Notes

  • Use a microwave-safe mug to avoid any accidents while cooking.
  • For a richer flavor, you can substitute whole milk or add a pinch of vanilla extract to the dough.
  • Adjust microwave time depending on your microwave wattage; cooking too long may dry out the roll.
  • Brush the mug generously with butter to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  • Consume immediately for best taste and texture.
