Description

A quick and easy single-serving microwave cinnamon roll made right in a mug. This recipe combines a simple homemade dough with cinnamon sugar, cooked in just one minute for a delightful, gooey treat perfect for a fast dessert or breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • ½ cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Filling

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Glaze

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon milk

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients and Form Dough: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the milk and stir until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead and Roll Dough: Turn the dough out onto a clean, lightly floured surface. Knead it a few times until smooth, then roll it out into a strip approximately 3 inches wide and 12 to 16 inches long.
  3. Prepare Mug and Apply Butter: Generously brush the inside of a microwave-safe coffee mug with some of the melted butter. Brush the remaining melted butter evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  4. Add Cinnamon Sugar and Roll: Sprinkle the dough evenly with granulated sugar and cinnamon. Starting at one end, roll the dough tightly to form the shape of a cinnamon roll.
  5. Microwave Cooking: Place the rolled dough into the buttered mug. Microwave on high for 60 seconds or until the dough is set and cooked through.
  6. Make Glaze and Serve: In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with milk to create a smooth glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the hot cinnamon roll in the mug, allow to cool slightly, then enjoy.

Notes

  • Use a microwave-safe mug that is tall enough to hold the rolled dough without spilling.
  • Adjust microwave time slightly depending on your microwave’s wattage; avoid overcooking to keep the roll soft.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute whole milk or add a dash of vanilla extract to the glaze.
  • Make sure the dough is not too thick or thin when rolling for even cooking.
  • Consume immediately for the best taste and texture.
