Description

This Peppermint Mudslide recipe is a deliciously creamy and minty cocktail perfect for holiday celebrations or any festive occasion. Blended with vanilla ice cream, peppermint vodka, Irish cream, and coffee liqueur, it combines rich flavors with a refreshing peppermint crunch and chocolate syrup for an indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Ice Cream Mixture

  • 1½ quarts vanilla ice cream (1361 grams, 3 pints)
  • 2 ounces peppermint vodka (57 grams)
  • 2 ounces Irish cream (57 grams)
  • 1 ounce Kahlua coffee liqueur (28 grams)
  • â…“ cup crushed peppermints (approximately 60 grams)
  • ½ cup chocolate syrup (140 grams)

For Glass Decoration and Topping

  • â…“ cup crushed peppermints (approximately 60 grams)
  • ½ cup chocolate syrup (140 grams)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Blend Ingredients: Place the vanilla ice cream, peppermint vodka, Irish cream, and Kahlua coffee liqueur into a blender. Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy, ensuring all ingredients are well combined.
  2. Add Crushed Peppermints: Add half of the crushed peppermints (about 60 grams) to the blender. Pulse the blender gently just to combine the peppermints evenly without over-mixing.
  3. Prepare Plates for Rimming: Pour ½ cup of the chocolate syrup onto one plate. On a separate plate, spread the remaining crushed peppermints evenly for rimming the glasses.
  4. Rim the Glasses: Dip the rims of 4 glasses first into the chocolate syrup, allowing the syrup to coat the rim well, then immediately dip them into the crushed peppermints so that the candy sticks to the chocolate, creating a festive sugary rim.
  5. Decorate Glass Interiors: Drizzle the inside of each rimmmed glass with the remaining ½ cup of chocolate syrup, swirling it around to add extra chocolate flavor and a decorative touch.
  6. Pour the Cocktail: Divide the blended ice cream mixture evenly among the prepared glasses, pouring carefully to preserve the decorative rims and drizzle.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Top each drink with a generous swirl of whipped cream if desired, and finish by drizzling additional chocolate syrup and sprinkling crushed peppermints on top for a festive final touch.

Notes

  • Use full-fat vanilla ice cream for the creamiest texture and richest flavor.
  • Chill the glasses ahead of time for an extra cold beverage experience.
  • Adjust the amount of peppermint vodka according to desired strength.
  • Crushed peppermints can be made by placing peppermints in a zip-top bag and gently crushing with a rolling pin or sturdy object.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the vodka, Irish cream, and Kahlua; substitute with peppermint syrup and coffee or chocolate milk.
