Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • â…“ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for topping)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the milk and melted butter, then stir just until combined; do not overmix.
  4. Bake Biscuits: Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet, making 10 to 12 biscuits. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Prepare Topping: Mix the 2 tablespoons of melted butter with garlic powder and parsley. Brush the hot biscuits with the butter topping after removing them from the oven.
  6. Serve: Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use pre-shredded cheddar, but freshly shredded cheese melts better.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne to the dough.
