Description

These tender slow cooker baby back ribs are fall-off-the-bone delicious. A perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors, they are seasoned with a blend of spices, slow-cooked to perfection, then finished under the broiler for a caramelized finish. Easy to make and sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale

Ribs:

  • 2 racks baby back ribs (about 4 pounds total)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (plus more for serving)
  • Nonstick cooking spray or foil for lining slow cooker

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ribs: Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs. Mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Rub the spice mixture on both sides of the ribs.
  2. Cook in Slow Cooker: Place ribs in the slow cooker lined with foil or sprayed with nonstick spray. Pour barbecue sauce over the ribs. Cook on low for 6–7 hours until very tender.
  3. Broil: Transfer ribs to a baking sheet, brush with more barbecue sauce, and broil for 3–5 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Serve: Enjoy warm with extra sauce on the side.

Notes

  • You can use your favorite store-bought or homemade barbecue sauce.
  • For a smokier flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke to the slow cooker.
  • To make the ribs spicier, increase the cayenne or add hot sauce to the barbecue sauce.
