- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes (with juices)
- 2 (15-ounce) cans kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 (15-ounce) can black beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional to balance acidity)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and bell peppers, cook until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook briefly. Add ground beef, cook until browned.
- Drain excess fat if needed. Add spices and tomato paste, cook briefly.
- Pour in tomatoes, beans, broth, and sugar. Simmer for at least 30 minutes.
- Taste, adjust seasoning, and serve hot with toppings.
Notes
- For a spicier chili, add more cayenne or jalapeños.
- This chili tastes even better the next day and freezes well for up to 3 months.
